How it all started: My story begins where the wild fence line met my backyard. Growing up in a tiny village on the edge of Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, my childhood was shaped by the daily parade of elephants, rhinos, and the occasional lion. Watching tourist boats wave as they passed, a seed was planted a deep fascination with the world of travel.
That spark was ignited in high school, guiding my first tourists through local villages. It set me on a path I was born to walk. I qualified as a guide and spent years freelancing across Southern Africa, honing my craft.
In 2013, I channelled a lifetime of connection to the wild into founding Southern Tours and Safaris. My mission is simple: to move beyond the standard tour and create genuine, shared experiences. Nothing fulfills me more than being in the wild, unlocking its stories, and creating unforgettable moments for travellers from around the world.

Southern Tours and Safaris is your gateway to the wild parts of Africa. We exist to reconnect people with their souls and with the natural world.
We invite travellers to join any of our trips and let our guides take them back to where they belong, restoring their love of nature and helping them to make new friends during their trip of choice. Having travelled for years with satisfied clients, we can proudly say that nobody tells stories like we do.
Additionally, Southern Tours and Safaris is a South African-owned company with offices based in Johannesburg, meaning any contributions made by our travellers benefit the local communities we visit and travel through.
Our trips have a limited number of visitors with a minimum of four and maximum of twelve travellers. No one feels left out; instead you are all guaranteed to have full attention from our passionate guides or storytellers, and a bonding experience with other travellers. For families and on request, we do run tours with fewer clients (less than four) at our own discretion.
WE CATER FOR SOLO TRAVELLERS
We understand that sometimes the hustle and bustle of city dwelling does come with a fair amount of stress, to the point that you find yourself wanting to get away. As much as you would like to take that travelling opportunity with family or friends, it is not always possible.
Instead of putting your adventure travel on the back burner, we encourage you to book our tours. Let us prove to you that you do not need the company of friends or family to have fun. In fact, we will even make sure that not only do you walk away stress-free and with newfound confidence but you also walk away with new friends, who love adventure just as much as you do.
In order to exceed your expectations, though, when you first make a booking, please let us know whether you require a single (supplement) booking or do not mind sharing a room with someone of the same gender.
GUARANTEED DEPARTURES
We are pleased to say that come rain, sunshine, or lack of participation, our tours will still go ahead. This means that you can go ahead and book your tour and your flight, and you do not have to sit by your computer, checking whether the tour is guaranteed or not. This is one of the small ways we show our clients how much we care.
WE HAND PICK OUR GUIDES
Our business understands the role played by guides. They are the ones who deal with travellers and create that special relationship with them. They are basically the face of the company.
So, when it comes to recruiting guides for our business, we make sure that we select the very best. All of our guides are experienced, boasting qualifications from esteemed Field Guide Association of South Africa (FGASA). As a bonus, they are passionate about their job and are never short of enthusiasm.
